Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2
12 November 2009
Excerpt: Naruto on the go... goes nowhere. Another day, another mediocre Naruto game . Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 is the latest in an ever expanding series of games featuring ninjas that dress like road cones and scream out exactly what they’re going to do before they actually do it. I’m throwing around the name “announcement fighter” for this genre. At time of writing this there are 41 (FORTY-F****ING-ONE!!!
Pros: Tons of stuff to unlock, Awful sound, Clumsy controls, Phoned in graphics, sound, and movesets
Excerpt: All the characters and environments in the game have been rendered in 3D. The look is comparable to other fighting games in the Naruto series, in that the character models have this sort of cel-shaded, animated type of look. While the game is rendered in 3D, all the fighting and main action on the game takes place on a 2D plane that has a slight 3D element with the strafing. The Quest Mode and Map Levels are in full 3D however.
Review: Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 (Nintendo DS)
26 September 2009
Summary: Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 is a decent attempt at a 3D fighter on the DS. The problems mostly come in that it doesn’t offer enough in terms of modes, and that the combat system gets extremely monotonous fairly quickly. With some tweaks and an extra mode of two, I expect the next game in the series to be a pretty solid outing. Until then, this is for the hardcore Naruto fans only.
Excerpt: Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 excels over its console counterpart, the Clash of Ninja series, in a single facet: speed. The one-on-one fighting in this handheld version feels faster than on the Wii, which produces frantic multiplayer... even though it's still local multi-card only. Action isn't the only area where this title shows its alacrity, though, as Ninja Destiny 2 also won the biggest race of all. It beat CoN to the Shippuden punch.
Summary: Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 features fast paced Naruto Shippuden 3D fighting action with the addition of an all-new Quest Mode, new characters, wireless multiplayer, jutsu and a storyline based on the Naruto Shippuden animated series.
