Summary: I expected a game that was ported to be compatible with 3DS. This game wasn't even in 3D, the graphics were entirely unchanged from what I assume the PC version was, and the playability was awful. The controls are clunky and at times frozen. The description of this game was misleading and I regret purchasing it. I put it down after ten minutes of fighting with the controls.
Summary: Long standing fan of the series, but holy heck this is trash. I picked this up from GameStop the other day for $8 and it wasn't worth it. The visuals are so pixelated and blurred that on my 3DS-XL it's just barely possible to make out any of the text in the game. Plus, your controls are you move the hand obj around with the stylus like a mouse. I think they literally ported the original game, and then compressed all the images so much that they're basically useless.
Summary: Note: I like to preface this review by stating I have never played a Myst game before. I know. Shocking. I'm taking this chance to find out what this game is all about. I have nothing to compare it to. Despite being for the 3DS, there is no 3D compatibility. Which was perfectly fine, since I never used the feature in any case. The graphics are sub-par for a 3DS game. The background was not sharp and can get pixelated if you move too quickly through each scene.
Summary: I bought this because I played a Myst game many years ago, I hope that it would be as good, but it's kind of slow and it feels old. I usually don't mind the "old feel" in games, is just that being a 3DS game it could have incorporated something more. Good puzzles, as most Myst games have.
Summary: I understand that there was little to no effort made to upgrade the game to 3D, which is an understandable let down, but the game play required to enjoy this game (even in this attempt to maintain the experience of the original game) is impossible on a DS system. It is very difficult to maneuver and impossible to read the writing on the screen altogether - and the reading is actually a vital part of discovering the game/story). Sadly, this is not worth the money.
Summary: This game is terrible. I thought it'd be a nice reboot of the old PC game but nope...garbage. Graphics are ridiculously pixelated, the icons on the menu don't do anything, words on the map are unreadable, and the point&click is difficult to maneuver. And to top it all off, its not even 3D... There's a reason it was $10 at gamestop.
