Learn bad Japanese

Learner, Amazon
4 July 2011
  • Summary: As an experienced learner of the language, clearly this was never made for me. After getting 100% in the placement test, I was taken straight to a lesson about how to use the copula ('''desu). These are the complete basics, and completely useless to anyone who already has experience with the language.

A terrible game for Japanese learners; deceptive and incorrect

Nathaniel Nat Guy, Amazon
11 October 2010
  • Summary: Do you want to learn how to write several Japanese characters incorrectly? Do you enjoy trying to distinguish difficult grammar from actual typos? Perhaps you like the same 3 or 4 quick recall games in order to teach yourself a complex language? Well then, this is the game for you! However, if you want correct stroke orders, accurate (and natural) example sentences, and good learning exercises, definitely avoid this game.

A poor attempt at educational software for the DS

Anonymous123456789 , GameStop
2 November 2008
  • Summary: I have noticed that this software gets high reviews from gamers who want to study the language and lower reviews from reviewers who actually know the language. This software does a very poor job of "teaching" Japanese. I studied Japanese as a university student, and often have to use the language for my job. I have noticed several problems with the software that any prospective buyer should keep in mind. The software focuses heavily on vocabulary.

  • Summary: Product was shipped without games cartridge. Unable to contact anyone directly to highlight fact, instead forced into a complicated returns process. Purchase not completed satisfactorily as a result.
