Meteos

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: There are games that defy explanation, and categorization. Meteos is one such game. Nintendo does an amazing job creating new, and innovative experiences within the video game industry. Again Meteos is one such game. This is a puzzle game that adds some RPG (role playing game) elements. The main goal while playing the game is to move blocks up and down until they line up three or more (either horizontally, or vertically).

Meteos

Portable Review
12 July 2006
  • Excerpt: Meteos is a quality puzzler, and along with Kirby: Canvas Curse, is considered to have been the first great game for the Nintendo DS, helping carry the DS until the release of Nintendogs and Advance Wars: Dual Strike in August. It was developed by Q Entertainment, formed by Masahiro Sakurai (famous for creating the Super Smash Bros. and Kirby series), also the creator of the excellent PSP puzzler, Lumines.

Meteos

Nintendo World Report
15 July 2005
  • Summary: Here's another reason to own a Nintendo DS.
  • Pros: Addictive gameplay, Both single and multi-card multiplayer, Excellent graphics and sound, Lots of unlockable planets, items, soundtracks, and block types, Plenty of different game modes
  • Cons: Can be easy to create random combos by dragging blocks up and down, Computer AI is cheap on higher difficulty settings, Long drags can be tricky because it’s easy to accidentally drift into the next column, Meteos blocks are small and can be hard to grab with the stylus at times

Meteos

Project COE

  • Conclusion: If the menu system didn't let on that this was a Masahiro Sakurai game, the myriad of unlockables and overall longevity simply have to give it away. This guy loves to pack all sorts of extras into his games, and Meteos does not disappoint in that respect. Much of the single player replay value comes from multiple routes through the game, and the different endings players can earn depending on their choices.
