Pros & Cons

  • quirky gameplay is entertaining, simple controls, smart 3d visuals, looks amazing
  • unbalanced difficulty is frustrating, it s too quirky, not really basketball, very easy

A fantastic effort to recreate basketball with touch controls. It looks, sounds and controls well, but it’s just too repetitive and broken with the points to fully recommend. Certainly worth a dribble about with just to experience the control scheme, though, and we’d love more touch-centred sports games. Make it so! Read more

Conclusion: a relatively innovating game when we’re talking controls and the form of basketball. The question is ‘Will it keep on being interesting although it has a rather repetitive gameplay?’. The game is very easy to learn which makes it a great game for kids somewhere around the age of 7 tot 10 years old. All in all it remains a fun game, mainly cause of the controls. Read more

"Mario Slam Basketball" is a great sports title.Like any sports game, if you don't like the actual sport, you might find the game limited, or not much fun. But for anyone with even a passing interest in either arcade sports games or basketball would be advised to take a look at this. There is plenty to do and unlock in the single-player game, and then the multiplayer rocks too, making for a formidable game. Despite my initial thoughts over how well stylus control would work for a basketball game, Mario Slam Basketball delivers an enjoyable game. It's not without its problems, is far too simple and lacking in features, but as sports games on the DS go, it's one of the best. It's by no means a classic Nintendo game but once you get past the initial awkwardness you'll probably enjoy your brief time on the court. Had the game included full multiplayer support with a single game... Read more
