Lost Magic

The 8th Circuit
27 November 2008
  • Excerpt: Can You Feel the Magic? Back in 2004, the Nintendo DS was met with some mixed results. Generally positive, many, such as myself, were skeptical of how the touch screen, and later online, would be implemented. Flash forward two years, and the DS is well on in its life, and has claimed fair amount of success. Looking to capitalize on that success, an interesting title named Lost Magic emerged. But would it be met with rave reviews like the DS?

LOSTMAGIC

The Gamers Temple
16 January 2007
  • Excerpt: At first glance LOSTMAGIC would appear to be an RPG adventure. However, it’s really a real-time strategy game as you don’t do anything between the battles other than read the lines of conversation between characters that serve as the game’s story. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, those of you searching for a new RPG for their DS can move on while the rest of you intrigued by LOSTMAGIC’s rather unique style of play can read on… LOSTMAGIC follows the adventures of...

Lost Magic

Thunderbolt Games
26 June 2006
  • Excerpt: Coming up with RPGs for the DS must be tricky. Sure, your staff can come up with all sorts of cliched stories and generic heroes to go with them. There’s also plenty of leeway with regards to the leveling and combat systems. Hell, even the DS’s graphical capabilities can work a few small wonders. But the real problem lies with the Touch Screen; it’s one of the system’s most celebrated features, yet finding new and inventive ways to utilize it must be quite a task.

Lostmagic Review

Strategy Gaming Online
7 June 2006
  • Excerpt: I once bought a PDA from Staples. I figured that I would use it to keep track of things at work and, better yet, to play games on. Certain genres could be really cool on a touch screen system, with the real-time strategy one being the forerunner in this justification for a hair-brained idea. Shortly after buying the PDA, I took it back and never tried to pick up another one again.

Lost Magic

Project COE
25 April 2006
  • Conclusion: Outside of the fighting, there really isn’t anything else to do. There are events and such, but there really isn’t any exploration at all. There is a point-based map similar to Final Fantasy Tactics , but players aren’t given any freedom to move about. The game keeps things relatively simple, which can be good or bad depending on the kind of player. The level of simplicity may turn off veteran RPG gamers, but players newer to the genre may find it a welcoming feature.

Review: Lost Magic

N-Europe
24 May 2006
  • Conclusion: The game might have a number of faults but the enjoyment of the battling makes up for it, add to that the WiFi duelling and you'll be glued to your DS for a long time.
  • Pros: Rune Casting, Hard Boss Battles, Wifi Battles
  • Cons: Uninspiring Story and Characters, No exploration of towns, Very Hard Battles
