Summary: I have to admit that I was a little surprised at how bad the graphics are. On the movie portions the pictures is all boxes. The gameplay is the same thing every other lego game has been in the past you run around collecting nuts and what not but the movies in between are horrible! I am really surprised because every other lego game we have (indiana jones 1 and 2, star wars, harry potter, and lego battles) all have great graphics.
Summary: Speaking as someone who has both Indiana Jones Lego Games, the Star Wars Lego with all 6 films, plus the Star Wars Clone Wars Lego, and Harry Potter Lego, this game was definitely a bit disappointing. First of all, the graphics are not as high of quality as the other games, especially in the little clips between each level. They're blurry and pixelated, which is not at all up to standards. The concept of the game is about the same as the others.
Excerpt: I got into the Lego games with Lego Harry Potter and haven’t looked back since. Yes, I know that they are a cash cow, dragging every last bit of money out of big buck franchise movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and The Hobbit but I don’t care. If they make a good game then that’s all that I’m interested in.
Pros: It's Lego so it's popular . . .
Cons: . . . it's Lego so they've just given up trying . . .
Summary: My son is an avid lover of the Lego franchise games especially Star Wars. He also loves pirates so we got him this to provide a change of scenery. This game is a change but unfortunately is a change for the worse, it strikes from the start that it is base on reused code from Star Wars and Indian Jones just with new animations laid over it. The next issue is that the levels are all very repetitive and lack imagination. Thus reducing the incentive to complete the game.
Summary: The 3D animation, sound effects and score are vivid and entertaining: Captain Jack is very funny. We were disappointed by the blurry video compression and muddy sound in the movie cut scenes. I don't know what video quality to expect on a DS Lite, but there is no excuse for the terrible sound. Thankfully the game itself sounds good on headphones or a stereo. The puzzles and tasks we have seen so far are great for a 7-9 year old.
