Hotel Dusk: Room 215 takes place in Hotel Dusk, a small hotel located near Los Angeles, California in 1979. Kyle Hyde, the protagonist playable character is a former member of the New York Police Department in a quest to search his old partner, Brian Bradley. During his stay at the hotel, Kyle unravels a mystery shrouded in the hotel's past that may lead him to the answers he's looking for. In the game, the player is required to investigate using the handheld’s various features that include the touch screen, microphone and closable cover. During the game, the player has to speak to a numbers of hotel patrons and employees to dig some information via the microphone. Only by asking the right question and shows the right item, Kyle will uncover the information he needs. If the player makes mistake, then the person may get angry or confused which resulted Kyle being forced to retreat to his room or kicked out of the hotel. Kyle movement is directed using the touch screen lead by an iconic representation of Kyle around a map of the hotel on the touch screen while a first-person three dimensional view is shown on the other screen. The game is filled with puzzles. The player also enabled to write clues or notes up to three pages to be used as the game progresses.
