Auracore MediaWorks
3 January 2011
  • Summary: Golden Sun is back, all of its perks and quirks intact.
  • Pros: Vibrant art and graphics; tons of djinni to choose from; new psynergy mechanics; useful mid-dialogue encyclopaedia.
  • Cons: Cliche-filled storyline; dialogue goes on and on and on; very low difficulty level; puzzles are a lot simpler; no true feeling of story interaction; seriously they just won't stop talking.

  • Excerpt: Golden Sun is traditional RPG. If the previous sentence doesn’tt get you at least somewhat excited, then this might be a good time to turn around you and get back to your online first-person shooter. I implore you, though, even if you are not a fan of RPGs, to give Golden Sun: Dark Dawn a chance.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Review

G4
30 November 2010
  • Summary: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a graphically impressive turn-based RPG that reeks of nostalgia while still managing to feel fresh. However, it is held back from perfection by its lack of challenge and an insistence on long winded exposition.
  • Pros: Truly amazing entertainment value for the money, It's all the old school turn-based RPG gameplay you miss, combined with the puzzles that made Golden Sun famous, The impressive graphics and attention to detail
  • Cons: The characters talk and talk and emote and emote for hours on end, The enemies rarely pose any sort of challenge, especially for the first 20 hours, Won't appeal to anyone who is not already a fan of the genre
