Geometry Wars: Galaxies DS Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: It’s a funny old world, gaming. For instance: titles with massive amounts of money thrown at them have the nasty tendency to flop, with the years of work put in by hard-working artists and programmers wasted. Sometimes, the commercial failure is justified, and other times, the whims of fate are cruel. Countless are the high-profile, high-budget games that have sank like rocks. More interesting, though, are the games that no-one saw coming.

  • Conclusion: It’s just that on Wii, blasting hexagons and rectangles is a lot more fun. Geometry Wars: Galaxies gets 3 stars out of 4 on the DS.

  • Conclusion: And finally for all of those reviewers out there even questioning the cost difference between the DS and the 360 version, kindly think about taking up another career.  The cost of producing a cart, packaging, manual and distribution costs are much higher than making a game available for download.  You’re also getting new game modes, wireless multiplayer (a first for Geometry Wars) and a different gameplay experience due to the control system.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies Review

VideoGamer.com
10 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Let's get something straight before we launch into the review proper: Geometry Wars: Galaxies is not a relaxing, calming handheld game that'll help eradicate the day's stress on the commute home like some virtual masseuse. Oh no. It is, in fact, quite the opposite. Galaxies won't be a DS game you'll see advertised on the London Underground either.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies

Evergeek
13 March 2008
  • Excerpt: The success of Geometry Wars, that old school, 2D space shooter first making it's mark as an afterthought Xbox Live game, may have taken the world by storm, but it certainly didn't take long to the powers that be to bottle that tempest and then milk it for all it's worth. Not a bad idea, in this case.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: It isn't perfect, and my tiny brain couldn't handle the Wiimote controls, but for less than £20 who can complain?

Geometry Wars: Galaxies (DS)

Crispy Gamer
30 January 2008
  • Excerpt: Nintendo's DS is probably the perfect platform for small arcade games like Geometry Wars . Sure, your friends and family can't watch you play, but the stylus is as elegant an arcade input device as has ever been crafted. Guide the shooty thing in the proper direction and watch the explosions. Geometry Wars is probably familiar to most gamers. It's an Asteroids -type game in which you destroy diamonds, squares and circles that surround you. Touch one and you die.
