Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS) - Review

VGChartz
18 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings continues the story from Final Fantasy XII on the Playstation 2 and brings a solid blend of action RPG and real-time strategy to the Nintendo DS. While the game ends up being more action than strategy most of the time, the experience is very enjoyable and proves to be yet another great game from Square-Enix for the DS.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

  • Conclusion: Overall, I don't want to play this game up to be the greatest of all time DS game, as that's likely not the case, but I will go as far as saying that this is the best RTS/RPG game that I've personally played on the DS so far. If you're a fan of Final Fantasy XII, you'll appreciate this story continuation, and the amazing features described above that keep the game interesting and innovative.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS)

The Review Busters
15 March 2008
  • Conclusion: Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is one of the must own games this year for the DS. The game offers a unique battle system that was first seen in Heroes of Mana, but it fixes the problems that game had, notable the story. You will find a lot of game play hours here, there are enough of side quests here to keep you satisfied for hours.

  • Excerpt: I'd say it's about time SquareEnix published another DS Final Fantasy game. Don't get me wrong, Final Fantasy III wasn't bad—but I have been thirsty for some magick and Revenant Wings. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a confused game to many: SquareEnix also announced a game that is now called Final Fantasy Tactics A2: The Sealed Grimoire, which is the spirited sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

  • Conclusion: It's amazing to think that Revenant Wings is the first strategy RPG I've ever laid my hands on, but we all know the phrase "it's better late than never", and the case is no different here. To me it doesn't matter that there's no local wireless head-to-head or online component to this game, because the package as it is offers plenty to Final Fantasy aficionados and strategists in general.

Official Nintendo Magazine
22 October 2008
  • Excerpt: These days it's almost impossible to have expectations of what a Final Fantasy game will offer before you start playing it. Whereas once the series was limited to pure role-playing adventure, we've now got everything from turn-based strategy and cutesy dungeon roaming, to co-operative shenanigans, first-person shooting and even massively multiplayer (and, frankly, massively dull) level grinding.
