  • Excerpt: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube was an oddball game for the Final Fantasy franchise. First off, it rekindled a relationship that had long been broken between Square (now Square Enix) and Nintendo (it was the first Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy VI for the SNES). Secondly, it was an action RPG with no real similarities to the franchise at all.

  • Excerpt: When compared to its GameCube elder, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is noticeably similar, yet on the whole, quite a different game. Noteably, it keeps the multiplayer aspect while not making it a massive pain in the ass.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Review (DS)

10 June 2010
  • Excerpt: Deep, Fun, Fantasy. Do YOU live in a small village with voracity for adventure and power? Most protagonists with a Japanese author do; and Square Enix continues its mundane production line with yet another save-the-world scenario. However, if one ignores the boring foundations that assemble the story, one will find a deep, captivating epilogue to be told… The Ring of Fates is a prequel to the first Crystal Chronicles for GameCube – It was released after the original...
  • Pros: Interesting storyline with deep characters, Fun game play on multilayer and with A.I, A wide variety of enemies, spoils and weapons
  • Cons: Graphics are rather feeble, Computer controlled characters die very easily

Official Nintendo Magazine
8 October 2008
  • Excerpt: The black sheep of the Final Fantasy canon until very recently, the original Crystal Chronicles broke the mould of turn-based trickery that the series has become so famous for. As Crystal Chronicles' spiritual successor, Ring of Fates takes place in the same world, with the same races and Magic system, translated into a smaller, tighter package that pushes the Nintendo DS to the very limits of its power.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring Of Fates

Empire Online
20 August 2008
  • Summary: Having already charmed GameCube players with Crystal Chronices in 2004 – and with a Wii verson on the cards for later this year – Nintendo is THE place to be for Final Fantasy adventuring. And while this latest DS incarnation is peppered with problems that cost Ring Of Fates a top score, it’s still a fun and engaging romp that serves as a perfect RPG introduction for younger, less patient digital daredevils.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates Review
