Even a couple of years after its release, Elite Beat Agents remains popular amongst DS owners, and is still regularly recommended to new adopters of the hand-held device. Is this reputation justified, or is EBA just another over-hyped gimmick? Read more

Am I being overly hyperbolic by describing as a dream come true? It's true that great games receive sequels all the all the time; I can sleep easy at night knowing that some day, there will be another title, for example. But in the case of , it's a follow-up to a game that I really, truly expected would never see a sequel. It's a great feeling. Read more

    • The perfect amount of challenge. The epic final song.

Rhythm and music games have become more prolific during the past decade, thanks to games like PaRappa the Rapper for the PlayStation and the Bemani games in arcades and on various consoles. While consoles tend to make more sense in order to play these games thanks in no small part to the vast amount of storage on disc-based media - it's truly a challenge to make them for handhelds like the Nintendo DS. Elite Beat Agents: For When You Just Can't 'Heeeeeelp!' Yourself. By Daniel Share-Strom “Hey, Jim! How do we localize a game about Japanese male cheerleaders who sing wacky J-Pop tunes to inspire people and help them with their problems?!” “Well, Americans like ‘agents’, right? So lets remove the cheerleaders and replace them with smirking ‘elite’ guys who can keep a ‘beat’, and make them agents! Read more

'Elite Beat Agents' is one of these DS gems. It will never get a huge amount of popularity compared to the latest Mario or Pokemon, but is still a must-play for those who come across it. It has been adapted from the Japanese game 'Osu! Takaete! Ouendan!' which had you control a group of cheerleaders who support various people in their fight-or-flight tasks through the power of music and dance. Read more

    • Exciting rhythm-based gameplay, harder modes provide real challenge, fun premise.

Anyone who likes music and has a sense of humor (and at least a modicum of rhythm) should enjoy this one. It literally takes 10 seconds to show someone how to play... tap the numbered circles and drag across the sliders. From there it's just about getting into the rhythm. Assist the Elite Beat Agents in their goal of inspiring people (and occasionally pets) to overcome the obstacles of their daily lives. Read more

    • - Fun and different gameplay.
    • - Stories just repeat for each difficulty level, so once you've worked through the easiest level, you've seen (almost) all the actual content there is.
