Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation

About.com
16 June 2013
  • Conclusion: Dragon Quest VI is, overall, a tight game and pleasing enough to sit with on a rainy afternoon. Its dialogue is funny, and there are some neat ideas (you won't find a game that has a more varied handful of transportation methods). However, as far as Dragon Quest offerings on the DS go, it's not the strongest of the lot. It doesn't have the compelling story of Dragon Quest IV, the heart of Dragon Quest V , or the sheer depth of Dragon Quest IX.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation – Staff Review

RandomNPC
24 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Dragon Quest is one of the biggest franchises in Japan, but it took much longer to catch on in North America. Americans did get access to the first four games, but after that, the series went into relative obscurity. We completely missed Dragon Quest and VI . Were Dragon Quest games like largely unconnected Final Fantasy series, this would not be as big of a deal, but the Dragon Quest series is known for trilogies.

  • Excerpt: Long reputed to be one of the finest in the Dragon Quest series, the sixth entry was prevented from an official English release on the Super Nintendo because Enix shut down its North American offices. The game remained a SNES exclusive for a long time, but the Square Enix DS Dragon Quest remake machine lit upon the title, giving it another chance to be seen outside Japan.

Game Over Online
7 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Dragon Quest is a series that has recently gained much popularity in the last few years after the series earned critical acclaim years ago with Dragon Quest VIII in North America on the PlayStation 2. Since that time, loyal fans have eagerly awaited the separate releases of the earlier Dragon Quest instalments exclusively on the Nintendo DS.
