  • Summary: Yeah I used that one for Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner, feel free to file a complaint with Charles. Seriously though, if you’ve got the latest Pokemon for either GBA or DS then you’re playing a game that Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker borrows heavily from, it just has a glossy coat of Square-Enix...

  • Excerpt: Back in 1999, Enix saw the success of Nintendo's Pokémon franchise and decided it needed to get on the "gotta catch 'em all" bandwagon. And honestly, this wasn't such a bad idea for the company, as its Dragon Quest franchise had already spawned 6 titles, each one featuring a bevy of monsters from...

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker review (DS)

HonestGamers
27 November 2007
  • Excerpt: It has been nearly 10 years since the Pokemon craze hit North America. Pikachu, Ash Ketchum, the urge to “catch ‘em all” – these became a part of our everyday lives. The anime was huge, the games were enormous, and the merchandise raked in billions.

25 April 2008
  • Excerpt: What’s that coming over the hill? Dragon Quest Monsters is by all accounts a well known monster fighting game in Japan. Of course to me that instantly sounded like a Pokmon clone. This was, as it turns out, a very unfair assumption. First off, the story.
  • Pros: Plenty of variety. Smooth combat. Good graphics
  • Cons: Levelling up can be tiresome as you battle the lower classes. The islands are a little small.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker Review

Eurogamer
12 March 2008
  • Conclusion: Partly that's because there's fundamentally less to do here than a lot of RPGs; less to interact with. It's difficult to shake off the suspicion that the game is a bit slight. You can get through the whole thing in little over 20 hours, which seems a bit short for an RPG - especially considering the...

  • Conclusion: Der neuste Teil der Spin Off Reihe zu Dragon Quest ist eigentlich gelungen.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Looki.de
29 May 2008
  • Conclusion: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker ist ein zweischneidiges Schwert.
