  • Excerpt: Dragon Quest VIII was the best received game in the series since Nintendo Power gave away copies of the first under its original North American title, Dragon Warrior. While most Americans enjoyed the game's turn-based combat and interesting monster designs, the game didn't become the behemoth it did in Japan. The series spawned a gargantuan amount of spin offs, and the latest to see release stateside is Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

  • Excerpt: It turns out that going through gaming forums can be worthwhile as I’ve managed to dig out a little gem of a game. I know that I can trust Square Enix with RPGs, what with the long-standing Final Fantasy series and whatever else they’ve done, so upon recommendations from like-minded gamers (and especially those with a taste for RPG) I thought it would be a good idea to give Rocket Slime a try.

  • Summary: Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is as interesting a game as the title suggests. It’s a quirky blend of gameplay elements that all fit together – although there’s every reason to suspect they won’t.

  • Excerpt: Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is one of the latest RPG adventures to hit the Nintendo DS handheld and it promises to keep players attention for hours at a time with its weirdly addictive game play, wacky cast of slimy heroes, and amusing storyline. The game starts out in the slime capital of Boingburg. A curious slime who goes by the name Rocket and his little sister Bo are out delving in mischief with Rockets buddies Hooly and Swotzy. Yeah I know.

Nintendo World Report

  • Summary: Duck-billed morons versus slimes!
  • Pros: Cute graphics, Quality, silly localization, Simple but fun adventuring, Surprisingly engaging tank battles
  • Cons: Music is catchy but limited, Shouldn't Square Enix be following its own alchemic law of equivalent exchange?, Simplistic allied AI during tank battles, Somewhat short

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime Review

Strategy Gaming Online

  • Excerpt: Dragon Quest is definitely a long running series. First appearing on the Nintendo back before some of you all may have been born, the series was nothing more than a top-down RPG. Somewhat similar to Final Fantasy, the series has been near and dear to the hearts of many fans.

Somewhat similar to Final Fantasy, the series has been near and dear to the hearts of many fans. Not too many years ago, though, the series took a small shift.
