Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber Review
9 February 2008
Excerpt: For me, Nintendo could do no wrong. And then they released the Wii. Say what you like about it, as far as I'm concerned, it's a novelty console, the one that you'll spend an hour or so on with your mates when you come back from the pub, or something to entertain your younger sibling's friends with. I'll say no more. Where Nintendo does still rule though, is in the handheld arena.
Excerpt: Forget the lion. When it comes down to who is the true king of the jungle, there is no doubt that Donkey Kong is the winner. Not only can he roar away like the oversized primate that he is, but he’s also fully capable of manoeuvring himself through the dense treetops by the only means a monkey ever needs – swinging. Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber heralds the return of the graceful gorilla in an all-new DS sequel to the overlooked GBA latecomer, King of Swing .
Excerpt: With millions of units sold, the DS is a remarkably successful machine. As a large proportion of the owners are so called ‘casual gamers’ many people would expect PAON, the developers of Mr Kong’s new game, to embrace this large market. At first glance it appears they have, implementing a simplistic control scheme of swinging and moving using just the L and R buttons.
Excerpt: You may not be aware that this is a sequel. The original, DK King Of Swing, appeared and disappeared on the GBA quickly and didn't get the attention it deserved. The sequel offers more of the same but as the majority of gamers didn't play King Of Swing we'll start from scratch
