Death Jr.: and the Science Fair of Doom

playmagazine
8 May 2009
  • Excerpt: The NDS has its very own brand of outmoded 3D. Let's call it "messy 3D". There's good messy 3D, and bad messy 3D. DJ: Science Fair of Doom is good messy 3D.

Death Jr. and the Science Fair of Doom

UncleGamer Radio

  • Excerpt: Death Jr., when it originally hit the very selective and not worth the effort PSP in 2005, seemed like a cute platformer that could probably hold its weight for a couple of times around the block, if it were lucky. The console it came out on didn’t make it an easy decision, and I went without, merely shrugging that there’d probably be another just like it on something I actually own.

Death Jr. and the Science Fair of Doom Review

  • Conclusion: The bottom line is that I just have a hard time recommending this to anyone. The game tries to be funny but it ends up being more grotesque than anything. It tries to be clever and borrow somewhat from a game like Castlevania and Metroid with their backtracking when you get those new abilities, but chances are that by the time you get to that point you’ll be ready to give up on the game. Sure, they’ve included lots of replay value what with different outfits for Jr.

Death, Jr. and the Science Fair of Doom

The Gamers Temple
2 July 2007
  • Excerpt: The Death Jr games are interesting, but not because they’re fun to play. In fact, on the PSP the games have been a little below average at best. It’s not that the characters are all that interesting either. Death Jr is the son of Death himself, but he comes across as just another average kid.

  • Excerpt: Death Jr. must have been a reasonably big hit, for Konami has decided to release a sequel. This sequel, however, was released on the DS, an interesting choice considering the original game was released on the PSP. Still, releasing the game on the DS opened up opportunities and functionality that aren't available on the PSP. Did Death Jr. and the Science Fair of Doom (hereafter referred to as Death Jr.
