Review: Custom Robo Arena

The Hylia
6 March 2013
  • Summary: is a solid entry into this series, and I’m sure fans of its predecessors will enjoy it, while newcomers to the world (myself included) will fit in quite well. The game’s charming story and characters liven up what would otherwise be a pointless robo-shooting spree, though the shooting spree is fun and engaging with its multitude of options. If you’re craving a solid action title for your DS and have already gotten your fill of may be right up your ally.

Custom Robo Arena

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: Custom Robo Arena is quite a surprise for the WMG. This game follows a fantasy universe where people with high mental energy control robots with their mind. They have their robots fight other robots. Each of these robots (aka robos) have three weapons, different body structures, and specialized legs (which can fly around longer, run faster, etc.). Fast reflexes as well as good strategy apply to this game.

Custom Robo Arena

Portable Review
29 May 2007
  • Excerpt: Execution is key. As good as an idea can ever be, when it come to video games, it can never shine unless it has been properly executed. In theory, Custom Robo sounds like an excellent idea. Being able to customize a robot that you can control to do battles sounds like it could make a very intricate and exciting game. In some ways, Custom Robo Arena got it right, but in others, it just feels like the game could have been so much more.

  • Excerpt: There’s something wrong with the town that you’ve just moved into. Your neighbors own android housekeepers. Your teachers don’t lecture about literature, mathematics, history, or anything relevant to a high school curriculum. Instead, they randomly quiz you about the range of the latest semiautomatic or the name of the most effective explosives on the market.

  • Excerpt: Robots and guns go hand in hand for video gamers. PC players have been treated to some of the better games in the genre, namely the early MechWarrior series and the MechCommander line. Console gamers, though, haven’t been left out – they have the excellent Armored Core series, the MechAssault series and one of the most unique ones of them all, Steel Batallion. Of course, none of these more realistically-styled games fit into something Nintendo wanted to do.

  • Summary: Oh come on, protagonist. Don’t look so ticked off. You are in a great game.
  • Pros: Fast, furious, and fun mech-combat, Lots of content and unlockables, WiFi is clean and quick
  • Cons: Main character’s testing name was probably “Irk.” Seriously, lighten up., World map defines “simple.”
