Summary: Of the mama games available, this one is the worst. The time limits allowed are almost impossible to get gold for a lot of the activities. The graphics themselves are cutesy and the overall look of it is clean. It doesn't have any voice overs though which means that it doesn't use the full capabilities of the system.
Summary: Who can cook in TEN seconds? NOT ME! Not a bad game or bad idea, very cute graphics and okay design. HOWEVER, in all the reviews I read, I did not see anyone mention the TEN SECOND TIME LIMIT on all activities. Yikes! For a "gamer" maybe that is cool, but for the average child, no go. You have to do things in warp speed, or the Mama scolds you while sending firey stink-eye your way, which is also intimidating to little kids.
Summary: I am happy that I did not pay full price in a store...the game is not very exciting...plus hard to learn as the instructions do not explain how to accomplish the tasks required to succeed in the game, such as how to "cook" on the stove, when to adjust the heat...etc.
Summary: This game is fine for kids. It is very hokey with it's animation. If your five year old wants to cook it might be okay for them. Anyone past ten years of age will find it very boring. Not challenging at all and the things it has you cooking are just plain stupid. I didn't read the rating on it, but it must be for small children. I bought it for some new ideas on cooking like the others I had bought. This was just boring.
Summary: When you first get this game or when a child gets any toy they play with it for a week or so and then they get bored. With cooking mama there is nothing to do apart from chop slice and grate, the marking scheme seems unfair. After 10 minutes you get so bored you go away feeling depressed that a half an hour on your DS didn't cheer you up.
Summary: I've only really played this game a few times, because to be honest Mama is just so scary and freaks me out! She's rather like a demented virtual Gordon Ramsey, (only without the swearing and eyes that glow red with fire .) She really doesn't like it if you can't get the hang of the game, and mess up her cooking. Which I found really intimidating. (Luckly for me, my 13 yr old son got the hang of the game quicker than I did.
Summary: when I switched on this game and started playing after 5 minutes 3 words came to mind which were, is that it? There just doesnt seem to be any point to it.having read good reviews on the game for a while and since there is now a 2 and 3 I decided to get it,As mentioned before all it really consists of is selecting a dish and then preparing it by chopping, mixing etc with the stylus.
Excerpt: "...a long period of time cooking but then once it was gone it was gone but maybe I should have realised by the low price in comparison to other DS games that this would be the case. The music was also quite repetitive and annoying and if I had a child playing this with the sound on next to me on even a short train ride I would want to throw it on the floor and stamp on it! If you wanted to buy this for a child to learn about cooking, I don't think it ...
Pros: Occupies you for a few minutes
Cons: Get bored quite quickly, maybe I'm just too old !
