For a long time I wanted to say “oh how the mighty have fallen.” Who could forget what happened to Konami’s Contra series? When it was out on the NES and Super NES, and to a lesser extent the Genesis, Contra was one of the greatest shooter game series ever made. Aside from one non-canonical release in Contra Force, it was non stop shooter insanity and some of the most difficult games I had ever play, especially Hard Corps on the Genesis, an appropriate title if I ever... The Contra series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and Contra 4 is a gift to the fans. If you're a fan of the series or even if you just like shooters in general, Contra 4 is the game for you. Between all of the bonus modes, two full NES games and an insanely hard main game, Contra 4 will keep even the most hardcore 16-bit gamers busy for a long time. I cannot recommend it enough. Here is a small tidbit of information to make you feel old; Contra is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. That’s right Konami’s revered series has been around for two decades now and for gamers like myself who remember firing up the original on launch day for the NES this is certain to have you pose the question, “Has it really been that long?” What is probably more surprising though is that twenty years later and we are just now reaching the fourth official c... User Review by StarFoxA
Reviewer: StarFoxA, gametrailers.com20 March 2008As a big fan of the Contra series, I was skeptical when it went into the hands of WayForward. This was mainly because of all of the games that they had previously developed http://en.wikipedia.org/ which was kind of unsettling. However, Konami picked the right developer for this game. It's packed with features and (despite the game being only six levels) it will take you weeks to beat this gritty... Read more

Your gaming Christmas List for 2007
...frenzy. I'm the only one who knows about it, so I bought Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (yes with guitar), Mario Strikers Charged Football, and Mercury Meltdown Revolution. I also told my dad to pick up Warioware Smooth Moves for everyone. I also bought Contra 4 and Dementium: The Ward for my brothers DS, and I'm tempted to buy Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles for my mum and dad to play co-op just for fun.
