A "disaster" of a clone indeed

shockmatrix, Amazon
26 February 2010
  • Summary: I will preface by stating that I absolutely love the run-and-gun genre with the Metal Slug and Contra series being some of my favorites of all time. There aren't too many derivative shooters that come around so it's always welcome to see another entry into the genre to go along with Demon Front, Dolphin Blue, Gunforce II, and the few others. However, this is definitely a sub-par effort with serious flaws that hamper enjoyment and playability.

Yes Its a Metal Slug Clone...And An Extremely Good One

G-FRESH , GameStop
8 June 2009
  • Summary: Commando Steel Disaster came out of NOWHERE. I never once read an article or seen it in a game magazine ad or anything. I had stopped into my local videogame store, saw it, took a chance and picked it up. I'm glad a followed my intuision cause Commando Steel Disaster is a very good action/shooter. Commando is quite litterally Metal Slug, only without the comedic tone.

Fair Enough

sonicfanboi , GameStop

  • Summary: First of all, this is a great game all in all. This is basically Metal Slug, except you can roll. There are some problems with the game, like how the levels are ridiculously long and challenging and there are no checkpoints, but other than that, it is a very great game if you are a Metal Slug fan! The plot is fair, so I won't spoil it for you.

Difficult Game

Inita Baer, Amazon
20 January 2009
  • Summary: You can choose the level of game difficulty, but the easy level is super hard and getting past the first stage is next to impossible. There are plenty of weapons to choose from, but there are so many people shooting at you that you will lose your life rather quickly. There is no resume feature, therefore you will have to start from the very beginning when you lose a life. This game is not recommended for casual stress free playing as it will frustrate you to no end.

difficult and awkward

  • Summary: This was the first ds game i paid money for. It was only 15 dollars new. I think the reason for this is that the game has design flaws. I got a little bit farther than previously today, (before my ds ran out of batteries), but i still havent beaten the first level! I'm sure i will eventually make progress in this game, but it doesnt make sense for the game to begin with so much difficulty.

Metal Slug without the Metal Slug

Zahaaticus , GameStop
7 September 2008
  • Summary: The title says it all. Its like the developers of Metal Slug left the company and decided to make this game outside under a new title because they couldn't use the Metal Slug name due to copyright issues. For all I know, that could be true, because this game feels like MS down to the artwork and hilarious screams. The only notable difference is that you start off with a machine gun instead of an annoying pistol.
