Summary: A spectacular take on the Metroidvania genre. The aesthetic suffers a bit in this version, as there isn't as much contrast between the background and foreground, which hurts the platforming. There's also some enemy and character models that look terrible compared to their Cave Story+ counterparts. Overall, I'd recommend this to collectors, big fans of Cave Story, or anyone that prefers a hard copy.
Summary: I honesly don't know too much abut video games but my son wanted this game and I purchased it for a Christmas gift. I received it in plenty of time for the holiday and my son was pleased with it.
Shows why the industry needs a strong indie scene, but...

Summary: Cave Story is a game I ran across while watching a series of videos on YouTube covering indie games. Over the last year and a half I've become fond of somecallmejohnny's reviews and the games they've lead me to play. Cave's Story's initial appeal was pretty much summed up to me in how it was compared to the older, side scrolling Metroid titles.
Summary: Ordered with the free shipping and still got it within a few days. I was very happy about that. This game is very fun to play if you are a fan of side scrolling shooters. Kind of reminds me of some of the old Metroid games in how it plays. I never played the original 2D version. I hear it is the same game as this one but the new version having updated graphics and the 3D effect. The only complaint that I have is some of the levels are kind of dark.
It's only prettier than the Wii version, and has less content

Summary: Cave Story will always be a good game, a game worth buying in one form if you don't already have it. I would posit that many 3DS owners probably also have either a Wii or a DS, and the Wiiware version is the one I'm going to recommend. Supports the comfortable Classic Controllers which are much easier on your hands than either of the DS versions, and has the largest resolution and clearest graphics for a game with some fast moving tiny projectiles.
Summary: I'm not like a lot of gamers in that side scrolling slippery jumper games are just a small part of my personal gaming experience. This one took a bit of getting used to. You initially have to figure out what your character can physically do and where he can get to on the screen. Then you have to learn how to get the little tiny guy onto the little tiny single block ledge, or how to get him to jump across the chasm that is spaced as far apart as is possible so that the...
Summary: The Good: +Simple and addictive gameplay +Actually quite a lengthy quest +The graphical update is good +Provides a very balanced challenge The Bad -There are already several other versions of the game readily available for cheap and it's hard to justify the purchase of this one just for 3D and revamped graphics alone Cave Story is easily one of the finest achievements in Indie Gaming.
Classic Cave Story with a mostly well executed 3D enviornment.

Summary: Cave Story in all its incarnations has been an excellent product. I first played through it when the english translation patch was released many years ago for PC. I played it all the way through again when it hit the DSi store. This is the third time I've played the product and by large, the experience remains the same. Solid platforming mechanics with fantastic level design and player progression.
