Don't buy for DS
16 November 2012
Summary: My least favorite search and find style game (I probably liked MillionHeir the best). Silly, annoying storyline and glitchy production. This was definitely not created for a DS, or even reasonably adapted for it. Pics dark and muddy, with only a sliver of the item you're supposed to find visible (which don't even always match the descriptions given). Some are on the very edge of the DS screen, and tappings do not register. A very frustrating game indeed.
Don't get the Nintendo DS version ( too frustrating )

Summary: If you insist on purchasing this game, make sure you purchase a magnifying glass as well. Look, you will almost go blind trying to locate objects that are only a few pixels in size on that tiny DS screen. Sorry, but that is not the point of the challenge in this game. I believe there is also a PC version as well as a Wii version; get one of those instead.
Summary: Warning: this game will strain your eyes! I rarely even consider reviewing a game before finishing it, but I'm prepared to make an exception for The Vanishing Files. I had actually wanted this game for some time -- not desperately, but it looked interesting, and I like mysteries. Unfortunately, it hasn't lived up to my expectations; when I look for a mystery, I'm looking for a story that will keep me on the edge of my seat.
Excerpt: When I got my laptop a year ago I started to use it for gaming, and have downloaded quite a few hidden object games. If you have never played one, a hidden object game is where you get a detailed scene on the screen, and a list of items to find within that picture - kind of a Where's Wally for the computer generation!!
Summary: This game becomes repetitive over time. You are doinng the same things over and over. The ending really sucks because it leaves you wondering WTF.... The size of the hidden object area is sooo small you can barely make out what it's showing. I was very disappointed because i wasted money to buy the game now im stuck with it.
Summary: This game is much better on the PC than on the DS, due to the size of the screens. The searchable area on the DS is not "large enough" to view things properly (even when you use the magnifying glass to zoom in). The soundtrack on this game is very choppy (the soundtrack from the PC game may not have been adapted to play correctly on the DS). I have played this game on the PC, and did not experience anything unusual.
