Cartoon Network Racing

Family Friendly Gaming
8 April 2008
  • Excerpt: Cartoon Network Racing for the PS2 aims to be for the PS2 what Mario Kart has been for Nintendo’s systems, and it attempts to do so while making use of some of Cartoon Network’s older licenses. Specifically, this game enlists the casts of Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cow and Chicken, Dexter’s Laboratory, I Am Weasel, Johnny Bravo, and The Powerpuff Girls. On the whole, the game targets kids, and manages to keep the game fairly family friendly.

Cartoon Network Racing

Gaming Evolution

  • Conclusion: Now when most look at this title, they will see it as another Mario Kart clone, but the fact of the matter is that this title is easily as enjoyable and full of potential as that series. You get the best of the Cartoon Network roster, intuitive gameplay, decent graphics, and lots of unlockables that will raise the enjoyment factor ten fold. For those who have yet to pick this title up, it’s certainly work your time and effort.

Cartoon Network Racing

Game Vortex
10 August 2007
  • Excerpt: The graphics in Cartoon Network Racing get the job done. Nothing on the DS is necessarily going to "wow" you, but I was surprised that animated characters couldn't be brought to life on the screen with more detail. If it makes you feel better, there is a lot going on at the same time on screen; this is an action game at heart. Kart racing doesn't have to have graphics that are drop-dead beautiful. The cars are silly, the level design is even sillier.

Cartoon Network Racing

Portable Review
26 February 2007
  • Excerpt: There’s no such thing as a kid who doesn’t watch or at least know of Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network has given host to a wide variety of cartoons – Cow & Chicken, Dexter’s Laboratory, Power Puff Girls, Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy, etc. Cartoon Network Racing uses a variety of these franchises, combining them with the best genre of games to put a franchise into – kart racing.

Game Freaks 365
13 January 2007
  • Excerpt: In November 2005, the Internet age finally came to Nintendo with the release of Mario Kart DS. In a few months, Diddy Kong Racing will continue the kart racing tradition on the DS. But what is the fan of kart racing who has played his fill of Mario Kart DS supposed to do until then? Game Factory has sought to answer that question by releasing Cartoon Network Racing.

Cartoon Network Racing

uk.gamespot.com
18 December 2006
  • Conclusion: In the end, Cartoon Network Racing is a bad racing game that won't appeal to anyone of any age. Younger children who are into any of the kid-friendly shows on Cartoon Network may think it's neat to see their favorite characters in action for a few races, but their enthusiasm will quickly dwindle. Anyone with more discerning racing tastes will want to stay far, far away from this licensed drivel.
  • Pros: Lots of cartoons to unlock, A few of the courses are interesting., Lots of things to unlock, Shortcuts are useful and easy to find, Sketchbook minigame is as fun as the racing, Catchy music.
  • Cons: Catch-up AI makes winning a matter of chance rather than skill, Brings almost nothing new to the table, Takes too long to unlock certain drivers, Sound effects are pitiful, Graphics and frame rate aren't too hot., Graphics and frame rate aren't too hot, Brings almost nothing new to the table, Takes too long to unlock certain drivers, Sound effects are pitiful.
