Excerpt: Graphically, the small-screen version of Activision's Call of Duty: World at War doesn't look half bad, but don't expect anything near what the PC or console versions display. In fact, it could be said that the DS version is terrible looking comparatively, but when compared with other DS titles that I have played, this first person shooter has about as good a level of visuals that can be expected on this small system's power.
Excerpt: The decision to take the Call of Duty series back to its World War II roots was met with split opinions, outcry and curiosity. How could Treyarch make the era fresh again after so many games had used it as their backdrop? After a long wait, it seems that grit, more violence and a brutal tone is the answer, with none of the substance established by the brilliant Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Excerpt: A few weeks ago, I concluded my review of Quantum of Solace on the DS by saying that maybe it should've been a first-person shooter like the other versions. But after playing the DS version of Call of Duty: World at War -- which is a first-person shooter -- I realize that no, no it shouldn't have been. At least, not like this. COD: WAW is one of the single most frustrating experiences I've had playing a game this year -- and last year, and the year before that.
Conclusion: Treyarch came back this year with an excellent addition to the franchise. Many gamers may look at this game with an "I've been there, done that" attitude. I am here to tell you that this is the best WWII effort so far, as well as the best game in the franchise. Call of Duty: World at War will be available November 11th, it's been developed on every platform, and will retail for $49.99 on the PC.
Pros: Viele gute Modi, Technisch vorbildlich, Online-Modus
Cons: Unbequeme Steuerung, Kurz geratener Storymodus
