Cake Mania 2

Video Game Generation

  • Excerpt: I can’t claim to have any prior experience with the Cake Mania franchise, yet I jumped at the chance to preview this game when given the opportunity. The original Cake Mania has been one of the most successful casual games of all-time, with millions of downloads and a DS conversion that sold more than 300k copies. Cake Mania 2 picks up right where the original left off, throwing more ingredients into an already tasty formula while keeping the same basic recipe intact.

Cake Mania 2

  • Excerpt: If you're like me, you've probably played Cake Mania on MSN games or maybe on the DS. Well even if not, it was so well liked that the makers gave us a sequel, Cake Mania 2 . This time, Jill has quite a few people who need her help! I guess Jill isn't very creative with stores, or maybe she just really likes the current setup. Whatever the reason, her store layout looks just like it did before. The locations, though, each have their own feel to them.

Cake Mania 2

Video Game Generation

  • Summary: Cake Mania 2 is still a fun little game despite its problems, which is a testament to how balanced the game is and how well it progressively implements more challenging scenarios. For a pure casual title this franchise is still pretty scrumptious, although budding bakers may want to stick to the PC version.
  • Pros: Good balance, as the pace increases regularly over time and deciding which upgrades to purchase does have an effect on the overall cake-making flow., Young girls should appreciate the art style and “wacky” characters., Priced right at $19.99 MSRP.
  • Cons: It’s sometimes hard to tell exactly which shape or topping is required., As the game progresses you’re mostly just doing the same thing more quickly, which makes it feel repetitive.

  • Conclusion: Minor improvements make Cake Mania 2 better than the original, but the difference is negligible. Lacking depth and issues with the touch controls make this casual treat a relatively tasteless affair
