A breakout clone has found its way onto many systems, usually by way of homebrew. While this isn’t the first time breakout has made its way onto a portable system, it’s my first time trying a touch screen variation of the game. The use of the touch screen intrigued me as I have always been a fan of the Windows game, Winbrick, which used a mouse to control the paddle. Accuracy comes more naturally to me with more than just a left and right button. Read more

Break 'Em All for the Nintendo DS, of Brickles, Arkanoid, or Breakout fame from years past returns with a added features like multiplayer for up to 8 people through the DS's wireless. Though nothing revolutionary, literally, but something entirely addictive and simple, how does Break 'Em All work in a gaming environment where high priced production mirror those of Hollywood? Lauri Taylor has the answers and the reason you might want to pick this one up. Read more

Breakout kicked ass back in the day. There was nothing complicated about it; no semblance of a story, horribly cliched characters, stylized graphics, and all of that other stuff that we love or hate today. Instead, it was the epitome of what made late 70’s/early 80’s arcade games awesome: simple controls blended with inherent difficulty. All you had was a paddle, a ball, and a gigantic wall of blocks to tear down. The ball would go flying off the paddle, smash into... Read more

Bouncing balls off of paddles to destroy bricks certainly isn't an original concept. Dating back to the 70's, Breakout titles have found their way into the hearts of many, something D3 opted to do with its own version of Breakout , affectionately called Break Em All . Is their low priced "redux" a smashing success, or is it going to fall through the cracks? Really, that depends on perspective. If you are a merciful gamer, willing to overlook glaring flaws and pick up... Read more
