The most underrated RPG in history...a flawed Masterpiece.

Summary: Black Sigil was made by like 8 people and its well crafted story, colorful cast of characters and unique battle system are really marvelous. The story and characters surpass even some of Square-enix's best efforts and nod to games like FF6 without blatantly hit you upside the head. Now many will criticize the graphics for one... but the detail in the castles and interior dungeons was actually pretty nice... please realize this game started as a GBA title.
The most geographically expansive and detailed RPG i've ever played!

Summary: Give this game a shot! It is the most geographically expansive and detailed RPG I’ve ever played, for example every house in every town is accessible, complete with rooms, secret areas, and items galore. Every individual room has artistic value and is rarely the same as another room. Add to that the fact that the towns are freaking huge and you can actually get lost easily in this game.
Summary: I can't say enough good things about this awesome RPG!! This is the best the RPG genre has to offer. For people to say this is crap/discrdit this; they aren't gamers at all. This is a perfect combination of Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, and Chrono Trigger. The characters are intresting and the plot is intreaging. This is a must have for the TRUE gamer and a must for fans of rpgs! I highly recommend this to anyone! It's worth every penny!
This is What the Game Industry Needs and Consumers Don't Seem to Want

Summary: Listen the game is buggy, dated, and flawed but it is a sterling effort from a fledgling developer. That is the reason for the high overall score and the low fun score. Do know that while it is compared to Chrono Trigger, it is not Chrono Trigger. The difference being story setting and battle. The twist on battle is supposed to be that position matters but largely it doesn't. Mostly it just serves to slow down battle if you want to use a regular attack.
Summary: Pros: - 16-Bit love (music and graphics) - is real close to japanese RPGs for being made by a western studio - nice charactres - good story - active-time-battle, almost like in Chrono Trigger Cons: - you can just walk on the worldmap - savepoints are pretty damn rare and almost every town got none of it (you have to save on the worldmap) - production of package and manual are horrible.
Summary: I got my game yesterday and haven't put the game down yet. I've been waiting for this game to come out. The graphics and gameplay was what I expected, OLDSCHOOL. They don't make games like this anymore!Battle system was user friendly. Enemy encounters was pretty high but didn't stop me from enjoying this game. What made this especially special was the characters. EPIC GAME!
Amazing Old School RPG. If you like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6, you'll love this game

Summary: I'm about 5 hours in. Im liking it. For the record, I am playing on a DSi and have not experienced one glitch or freeze which some people on a few forums are reporting. The battle system is fine. The random encounter rate is a little high, but that's by todays standards. Id say it falls right in the middle of FF6 and FF4. I absolutely LOVE the graphical style. So much of it it ripped DIRECTLY from Chrono Trigger and FF6.
Summary: Updated: 01/18/2010 There's some chatter and reviews out there bashing the Black Sigil: Blade of the Exile DS game. Black Sigil is a fantastic game, and it rates right up there with other fun RPGs games. Initially some players immediately critized the game because they felt the encounter rate was too high. This was the main complaint. Others stated the game would sometimes freeze. Yet other complained that it was a poor attempt at copying some other game.
