Video Game talk
21 January 2011
  • Excerpt: Plants vs. Zombies has been an absolute winner for Popcap Games on the Apple platforms, PC and Xbox Live, so it was just a matter of time before it would head to Nintendos insanely popular handheld. Granted, its not as exciting as a 3D version of the game for the upcoming 3DS, but the addictive nature of the gameplay is enough to hook any casual gamer into playing for hours upon hours. The presentation is very simple and doesnt really require any narrative.

New twist on the match-three puzzle is fun and challenging.

Common Sense Media
24 July 2010
  • Summary: Parents need to know that Bejeweled Twist is an addictive matching game that will be incredibly appealing to kids who love puzzle games, but may come off as too repetitive for kids who tend to require more action or plot in their video games. There's an outer space planet-jumping motif layered over the DS version of Bejeweled Twist, but it's purely decorative. For puzzle lovers, though, this should not be a negative.

  • Summary: This explosive puzzle game is sometimes too chaotic for its own good, but it's difficult to put down once you get sucked in.
  • Pros: Explodable gems mix up the action, Challenge mode offers unique objectives for puzzle veterans, Zen mode provides a relaxing complement to the chaotic Classic mode
  • Cons: Two-player mode requires two carts and suffers from lag, No way to rotate your blocks counterclockwise

Twist and shout!

Game Revolution
5 March 2010
  • Conclusion: The following is a simple test you can use to judge how good a casual game is. It may even work for other games as well. In fact, you may want to print this test out, fold it up, and keep it in your wallet next to that fortune you got when you had Chinese on your birthday last year. Think of the pair as your own personal compass and sextant, guiding you through the choppy sea that is life. Or not. Maybe it's just good for casual games.
  • Pros: It's a pattern-recognition paradise!, Lots of ways to play, A minute to learn, a lifetime to master
  • Cons: No twisting with the stylus, Difficult to get a two-player game going, May test strength of personal relationships
