Apollo Justice: Seriously, Give it a Chance

LauraHann..., Ciao
19 July 2012
  • Excerpt: "== Apollo Justice== The latest game in the Ace Attorney Series, how does it hold up? ===The Story=== The story takes place 7 years after the last Phoenix Wright game. It's really difficult to talk about the story without giving massive spoilers from the get-go, so suffice it to say we now play a new budding attorney, Apollo Justice. He begins his own quest to be the most ridiculous haired defence attorney of all time, embarking on a series of cases ...
  • Pros: All the good bits of the AA series are present, excellent story etc
  • Cons: Apollo not as developed as Phoenix, but he will be !

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney

  • Excerpt: "Hm, a very good game indeed. This game in the _ Ace Attorney_ series delighted me in many ways. Brand new characters and cases, but there are still some familiar faces. The ideas are top-notch and very clever indeed, however, I was disappointed to see how repetitive the game still was. On the other hand, it was a brilliant change to see that the cases had gotten longer - the first case took me a day, whereas it usually takes me half an hour. The storyline ...
  • Pros: New characters, new cases and the chance to do some forensics work .
  • Cons: Repetitive .

Close, but no banana

  • Summary: Apollo Justice is a truly outstanding game, but compared to its predecessors, that shiny gleam doesn't look quite so shiny. Some of the things it says have happened in the 7-year gap between T&T and this require a large suspension of disbelief, as the actions of some characters are completely different to how we knew them. Great as it is, it's just not *quite* as good as the previous three. Well, the first and the third. Von Karma Jnr is still extremely annoying.

  • Summary: I am by no means an expert on the DS or the Phoenix Wright series; in fact this is the first DS game I have bought on my first handheld console, but for what it's worth, I found it to be a very engaging and enjoyable game. The graphics are slick and (compared to the flash-back play scenes) much better looking. For each trial you gain quite a large amount of evidence, some pieces more useful than others.

  • Summary: The Ace Attorney (Phoenix Wright) series is back, but this time with a new protagonist: the entertainingly named Apollo Justice. If you're thinking that's a sign that the game takes itself too seriously, fear not: one of the first things the game does is make fun of the titular character's name.
