Anno 1701 - Brilliant strategy game for the Nintendo DS

Excerpt: Anno 1701 is a strategy game for the Nintendo DS. The game is a sim type game, which relies on an isometric layout to show the country which you run and develop. In essence you control a population of people and have to please the Monarch by completing certain missions (there are fifteen missions), defending your country, attacking other countries and keeping your population happy.
Summary: This is a very involved game, and seemed to me quite complex. If you like games on the PC such as Civilisation etc, then it probably would appeal more. I found the icons to be small and hard to distinguish, and I kept failing the same challenge, and then I stopped caring. It does seem well put together and the graphics are lovely and detailed, but still very small on the screen.
Excerpt: OK where to start well Anno is a series that is very successful on the pc platform however on its transition to the ds it does mildly well. Firstly the modes in this game are limited but the inclusion of Nintendo WFC would have boosted its appeal. The graphics and sprites used for the series is a welcome addition as they are very vibrant in colour and their animations are well designed.
Pros: Great sprite graphics, Good sounds + music, Gameplay is fantastic
Cons: Single player mode should be better, Needed Nintendo WFC

Summary: Last year I heard that Settlers (my favourite game of all time on Amiga/PC) was to be released on the DS - so I got a DS in anticipation. Unfortunately (nearly a year later) after several delays, it was released and lambasted by critics due to the glitches and constant crashing which render it nigh on unplayable. Thankfully though - someone recommended this alternative to me... ...The first thing I did when I got this home was lose the instructions.
Summary: On the PC, I love the Cossacks series and seriously considered counselling to overcome the addiction (well, my wife considered it for me). Up until now I have loved Animal Crossing on the DS, largely as I'm on a mission to have one of every fruit available. However, this is replacing all of them - wife and counsellor included! The game is incredibly complex for such a tiny little console and the gameplay really very engaging - even addictive.
Summary: I actually got this game while I was in Germany, as I heard a lot about it while I was there. I love strategy games, so this was an interesting game to look at for me, as until now I've never found a really great one on the ds (well except for AW DS). The game is similar to Age of Empires I suppose, but you have more control on building your city and empire up.
