Good dryer, in theory; lousy LG service and repair record

Alan Fox, Amazon
20 November 2014
  • Summary: This is a good dryer, in theory. However, in the 2 1/2 years I owned it I had several service calls, all related to an overheat-shutoff issue. Basically, it's easy for something to get stuck and cause overheating, which shuts off the dryer. There is a reset switch inside, but the back must be removed to gain access to it.

Amazing machine. All you need to do is empty ...

Peter M, Amazon
31 August 2014
  • Summary: Amazing machine. All you need to do is empty the water collection drawer after each big load, clean the filter after each session and about 3 times a year, wash out the condenser coils and give the sensor pads a wipe. All easily accessible from the front. It is a very quiet machine and the sensor drying is great. It will keep clothes almost wrinkle free with it's auto-reversing action. I love this machine.

blows hot air

Carrie, Goedeker's
1 September 2013
  • Excerpt: I'm disappointed with this because it blows hot air into my small hallway and makes my place hot. I'm worried about how it will affect my cooling bills in the summer. It works well enough in terms of drying things and I'll have to live with it. There are very few options for washers and dryers that fit in older/smaller spaces. Wish I had gotten the compact Maytag set now.

Don't Hurry & Buy

LB, Amazon
11 October 2012
  • Summary: Bought the LG DLEC855W at end of 2011. After waiting 3 months for it to become available (only model that would fit our space and still be ventless), finally arrived. Dries fine...until it breaks, about 1 year...and 2 months later, of course. Error code tE3. Took FOREVER for LG to determine they would, indeed, send a repair guy. He "fixed" it in under 3 minutes. Worked fine for another 3 months...and then THE SAME THING.

Works great, very efficient

Emily J. Hochwald, Amazon
10 October 2012
  • Summary: We use this dryer for a family of 5. It works great and drys as quickly as any other dryer we've had as long as we don't stuff it full. The clothes need room to tumble. The reason these dryers are much more energy efficient is two fold: 1. It uses less electricity to dry the same amount of clothes as a vented dryer. 2. The largest savings occur because it doesn't vent your home's interior air to the outside.

  • Summary: 3rd time the dryer elements have failed on me. Maybe I just got a lemon but I'm just happy I have a good warranty.

Great Dryer

Fredy Hernandez, Amazon
7 October 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this dryer 6 months ago and I love it!! My wife and I use it several times a week and the clothes come out dry. We were worried about going ventless (we live in a small condo) at first but after 1 month we were sold and happy with the purchase. It sure beats having to use the community washer dryers.

Lousy appliances

Dusan Knezevic, Amazon
29 September 2012
  • Summary: Purchased this dryer in May of 2013 and had worked fine until today when it broke down: According to customer serevice rep they have to send a service to replace a part. I bought the LG refrigerator also through Amazon in August 2013. At this point we are awaiting outcome of the third repair. So far they needed to replace three parts. Does LG stand for Lousy Gear?
