Summary: My experience with this dryer is that it operates as expected - in fact the lint collection system is the best I've ever encountered. The problem I have with it is the lid hinge breaks regularly - every 6mo to a year. ...and they cost $100 a pop.

Summary: I have the top load gas dryer and love it. it dries clothes in no time at all, but it is noisy. I have had it repaired once and it's noisy again a year later. However, I like the top load so much I would buy another one for our AZ house but it needs to be electric.
Summary: Had the exact same experience. I called Fisher and Paykel and explained that this seemed to be a known issue with the dryer as it is all over the Internet if you do a search. The representative denied the truth of this and was extremely unhelpful.
Summary: I would give this dryer a zero rating if I could. We have had the set for 5 years. The first dryer was replaced by the retailer after 1 year because we had the repair man out 5 times. The second dryer worked better but still has issues. The dryer overheats easily for reasons unknown.
Summary: I hate my Fisher & Paykel Smartload dryer! Even when brand new it always took about 1.5 hours to dry a load of laundry coming out of my equally inefficient and unreliable Fisher & Paykel EcoSmart washer.
