Summary: This tool performs very well and is up to my expectations. However, the enclosed instructions lacks clarity with regard to the affixing of the supporting handle. Also, the tool which tightens the bid has a strip of plastic wire attached to it. It would have been useful if the instructions had mentioned how one should deal with this. All in all, the instructions could have been better written instead of just showing complex drawings.
Summary: I received this drill on July 30th, 2014 but didn't use until August 20th only to find out that it is not as the drill I previously had. I used the key to tightened the drill bit securely, then start drilling it worked perfect on the first occasion. A few days later I had a second job for my new drill this time the tightened drill bit kept getting loosen,I tried and tried but my attempt was fruitless the drill bit got loosen all the time.
Summary: I bought this hammer drill for a bathroom remodel to drill on the concrete floor. It did it's job. Used again to drill holes on a wood stump to apply stump remover, using a 1" spade bit, smoked the motor. I was disappointed because I expected more quality from a Hitachi. Bought me a Makita from this site and I'm still happy with it. I'm not a contractor, just a DiY'er. Hope this helps.
Summary: After the last battery pack died on my portable drill, and I was shocked to find out a new battery cost more than I originally paid for the drill with battery and charger. I bought this corded drill in protest. Until the day batteries are standardized so you won't be forced to buy a $70 battery, I quit portable drills altogether. Shame on all the manufacturers that rip you off on battery packs! /rant (thanks for listening) The good news is, I really like this drill.
