Review: Hitachi DB3DL

Wired
23 May 2007
  • Excerpt: You’ll either love or hate the Halo plasma-pistol styling, but Hitachi’s two-position handle and rubber grips proved comfortable even after we drove 169 screws on a charge. That’s doubly impressive when you consider that the Hitachi weighs half as much as the Bosch.
  • Pros: Removable battery means this isn’t a “disposable” tool. Makes a good flashlight in a pinch since the built-in LED turns on and off with a switch instead of shining just when the tool’s in use. Good torque for its size.
  • Cons: Side-mounted trigger is hard to reach. Questionable durability.

Hitachi DB 3DL review

  • Summary: Hitachi’s entire range of power tools is dressed in a fantastic jungle livery and comes with deeply textured, soft plastic handles to give you essential extra grip, but the DB 3DL is perhaps the most innovative design. This green gizmo is designed to reach the screws that other drivers simply can’t.
