Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure is a platform video game developed and published by Sega for Dreamcast. This is another instalment of Sonic series video game by Sega and this is the first game in the Sonic Adventure series. It was released on December 23, 1998 in Japan; September 9, 1999 in North America; October 14, 1999 in Europe; and December 3, 1999 in Australia.

Features

Sonic Adventure features six playable character namely Sonic the Hedgehog as the main hero in the game and accompanied by Miles “Tails” Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Big the Cat E-102 Gamma and Super Sonic. The villains which are non-playable characters include Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, Chaos, Tikal the Echidna, Zero, Chao and E-Series. The game story is told depending on the character the player chooses to play. Each character has its own perspective and as a result the stories tend to diverge at certain points based on the character arc. In addition, the game is divided up into two stages namely Action Stages, and Adventure Fields. Action Stages are basically playable levels. This is the only type of area where Sonic or any of his companions will encounter enemies. There are eleven Action Stages, accessible by different characters. Meanwhile, Adventure Fields are non-linear game stages, generally designed for puzzle solving, exploration, and plot advancement. There are three Adventure Fields namely Station Square which is a large, metropolitan city, and is the location of Sonic's first fight with Chaos; Mystic Ruins, which is a large mountainous area and the largest Adventure Field in the game, containing the Angel Island; and Egg Carrier, which is the Eggman's massive flying airship.
