Excerpt: I never really enjoyed first person shooters. Racing and fighting games are more my forte, but considering I wanted moreaction from the Dreamcast and that the graphics look downright incredible, I decided to shell out some bucks and take a chance.
Pros: Many maps and characters, excellent visuals, intense mulitplayer action
Excerpt: As far as First Person Shooter (FPS) go I'm a bit of a novice (as I've explained before), and as such an area that I'm not keen to jump into. I've got Quake 2 on my PC. "Is Quake, is good" is the cry from many FPS fans, so it was on a spending splurge that I bought four games for my beloved DC and...
Pros: Graphics, fast, challenging, very solid game
Cons: A keyboard and mouse are pretty much neccessary
Excerpt: Quake II arena is a very good game. Although my major glitch with it is that I found it very difficult to pick up the controls. So i switched the controls so the analogue stick 'moves' and two of the other buttons let you look up and down.
Pros: Excellent multiplayer modes
Cons: Difficult controls, expensive online gaming, same old genre?
Excerpt: I've just been reading how Unreal on the ps2 looks a little rough and has severe slowdown on splitscreen mode. Quake 3 as far as I can tell has no slowdown and split screen multiplayer works really well.
Pros: A totally brilliant port that truly does the game and dc justice .
Cons: hard with a pad and controller settings not saved .
Excerpt: I'd like to concentrate on the online gaming aspect of Quake 3 Arena. Basically this ported PC first person shooter is the first major online gaming release for the console market. Q3 represents the easiest online playing experience yet available in the UK.
Excerpt: Even if you don't know anything about games, as soon as you start playing this you know it is made for a PC. The controller is pretty bad on this game, i haven't tried it but i know that a keyboard and mouse would work better.
Excerpt: Spectacular! I had to begin with a adjective because its that... GOOD. I've played a lot of first person shooters and this is a great one. Visulize the first time you played golden-eye in four player mode and multiply it by 3 and 2/3rds.
Excerpt: Quake 3 Arena, as everybody probably knows, was originally created for the PC. And I am afraid to say, that it should have stayed like that. Even though ID did a brilliant conversion of the game to the Dreamcast, and it's compatibility with the DC Mouse and Keyboard is a good idea.
Pros: Enjoyable, lasts a while with the multiplayer . Low lag in online play .
Cons: A limit of 4 PEOPLE ! Hard to play with controller .
