Fantastic Game. Unique game play style. Exciting and addicting.

  • Summary: MSR is a fantastic racing game. In my personal opinion it's by far the best racing game you can play on the Sega Dreamcast. I personally own 150+ titles for the dreamcast (including like 8 racing games) and I would most definately put this one at the top of the list. (as far as car racing goes. Because man i love Star Wars racer for pod racing :P but thats a whole different style of game play).. Anyhow. Excellent game.

Best racing game of the Dreamcast era

  • Summary: This racing game is not about how fast you drive, but how you drive fast. That says it all for Metropolis Street Racer (or MSR). It's a very accurate game, increasingly difficult challenges and races, and a Kudos system that taxes your every driving skills. The music is great, the scenarios are gorgeous and precise (they used about 44 000 pictures of the three different cities to make the world of the game) and the sound effects are very immersive.

  • Excerpt: "...despite the presence of GT3, Metropolis Street Racer is a unique racing game, not like any other racer before or since. Well, except the Project Gotham Racing series', which is more-or-less the child of MSR. This game is not one to be missed. If you're the lucky owner of a Dreamcast, and you don't own this game, I highly recommend you get it ASAP. Pick it up from eBay dirt cheap and you'll be glad you did. Forget your Need for Speeds and Gran Turismos ...

Metropolis Street Racer- At a glance

  • Excerpt: "MSR- Metropolis Street Racer for the Sega Dreamcast introduced, to me, a new style of racing. The quality graphics, fast cars and superb sound make it feel as if you are inside the car. KUDOS- This game brings with it a unique points-scorer in the form of Kudos. This means that you gain points needed for the next race or car varying according to your skill, style and penalties. SKILL- Points for your skill during a race are given for sharp turns, ...

  • Excerpt: "Metropolis Street Racer is probably the best racing game that I have ever played on. It is the most addictive game I have ever played on. Like most other sim-based racers, MSR places an emphasis on real-world cars and realistic driving physics. The graphics are simply superb and contribute to a major part of the quality of the game. You drive around London, Tokyo and San Francisco with each city having three distinctly different areas for its’ ...

  • Excerpt: "Having just bought myself a Dreamcast I have been addicted to this game recently, hence my lack of Ciao time over the past few days. The package is very slick indeed from the introductory video clips to the level of detail within the game itself. There are hundreds of races to take part in and dozens of different cars to drive. You can take part in individual races or time trials or the centrepiece of the game, the street racing itself which involves ...

  • Excerpt: "This game was a second-hand deely, so i thought it'd probably be a bit off, with some scratches, crash afew times maybe. But it DIDN'T! And i would've been able to tell, because the game is just so perfect, any bit wrong and you'd tell in a flash. The graphics are gorgeous, i cant imagine how much work must've gone into them, but mark my words, it's ALOT! The detail on the graphics and cities is astounding, i own a flat in london and part of the ...

  • Excerpt: "Where do I start with Metropolis Street Racer? It's hard to decide as there are so many good points to begin with. Forget the Gran Turismo series on the Playstation. I've played them, then I played this and realised that I had to get a Dreamcast, if only to play this amazing game. At first it seems a simple concept, race around the circuit in a certain time to progress. Then you look at the idea of kudos and all of the possibilities it offers. In ...
