Summary: I bought this Tascam DP1 FX recorder because my Tascam Neo 24 track machine won't rest on the couch or on the porch with me- it's too big and I don't use 24 tracks, I'm a basic solo guitarist, bassist, vocalist, drum programmer and turntable DJ. I use about 5-8 trax-max. Now I'm getting in my 40's in age, at age 20 I had a Yamaha cassette 4 track and made rock and roll for hours every day. Got a huge box stack of old 4track cassettes.
Summary: It records stuff for cheap and has decent effects. Can't really complain about anything. It will capture your failsounds and cover them to the best of its' ability with effects you probably won't bother to learn to use properly anyway, but bottom line...... recorders gon' record. You get out of it what you put in to it. If you don't suck, this will show that. If you do, you probably should be practicing instead of on ebay looking at recorders. I'M OUT!
Summary: Was not happy with this buy at all. It was not discribed accurately. The effects knobs did not work at all. The effect send knob is shorted out. The yes/enter button works sometimes, and the foot switch socket is scratchy, to name just a few things. But they did refund me half of what I paid and the next time I want to piss away money, i'll buy crack.
dont buy from somebody with no knowledge on how their product functiond

Summary: If your used to the old analog recording process, prepare yourself! This recorder is easy to use once you learn how to operate.Do not look at the owners manual, use or find online the quick start guide. This unit is notorious for disappearing tracks (check on line) YOU MUST SAVE EVERYTHING AFTER YOU RECORD!!!!!!!! It is a very good bang for your buck!
Summary: This product it magnificant. I bought it for my band to record a CD just to let people hear some of our stuff, and not really a serious recorder. After a few weeks with this bad boy, we can\'t put it down, so many helpful and easy features, very good sound quality, great buy. ------------------------------ "You Probably wouldn't worry about what people thought of you, if you knew how seldom they did" "The Pursuit of perfection is man's greatest flaw.
Pros: A lot of space, not as expensize as other recorders, Bounce funtion makes it have much more than 8 tracks.
Summary: I bought this for field recording acoustic instruments: hand percussion, voice, ukulele. Later on I've used it to record electric bass and whadda ya know -- it works. Audio quality can be very good though its 16-bit. You need some good condenser mics and some common audio-sense to make this thing perform its best. It's simpler to use than some of the other studios-in-a-box but you need your wits about you to use it.
Pros: portastudio recording but it's digital
Cons: arcane procedure for downloading files to your computer
