Excerpt: Been using this for a few years now and the sound is excellent. In a side by side test we couldn't hear the difference between this and our Midas Venice 320. To address some of the other reviews here the stereo linking has been fixed, you can now link channels. And if you wanted to turn the FX on and off with a footswitch you could send both delay and reverb to an AUX output and not to the MAIN output. Send that AUX to an ON/OFF footswitch.
Pros: Durable, Easy Controls, Good Sound Quality, Lightweight
Summary: This is a great board that keeps getting better with each update. Mackie listens to what users have been saying and keeps updating the board to make it even better. For the money it's a great board that we are using at our church and it's been great. Very flexible with six outputs and 16 inputs. It's compact size is great as well. If your not a huge in need of more inputs this should be at the top of you list. It sounds great and has a ton of features.
Pros: Sound, flexibility, size and Mackies continuing to improve the features.
Cons: If you used to analog boards it can be hard to get use to a digital board but so worth it.
Excerpt: use for live sound signal distribution. very good metering and lots of potential for software upgrades. would like to see stereo channel linking and copy channels. can't use in direct sunlight, gets very hot and ipad goes into overheat mode, had to send back for bad ipad connection but Mackie has great customer service. input gain control dont not "line up" with input fader which forces you to look before adjust. overall cool mixer...
Excerpt: Well, I used this mixer for a band the day after I bought it (having played around with the ipad software earlier and having watched several webcasts of the features). It was pretty impressive. I play in the band and mix at the same time, so the mixer is typically set up at the back of the stage. It was quite nice to be able to walk out front for a sound check and start tweaking individual channel eqs from the front of the house.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Compact, Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Versatile
Excerpt: My first impression was not so good, since I had to contact Mackie to fix a firmware update problem (had to do a force firmware update, pushing the little button next to the power plug while turning on the mixer). For it's price and size, I found it to be the perfect solution for my needs, sound reinforcement for a capella groups. The Master Fader app is easy to use and Mackie is working on new features, which is really good news.
Excerpt: Although this product has issues in need of improvement, I would recommend this product to anyone!Currently, I use an iPad 4th generation. I did not find out that my iPad was not compatible with the DL1608, until after I had purchased the mixer. Mackie and all dealers should make this clear to all consumers before the purchase of this unit.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Compact, Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, No Snakes To Run, Security Of Settings, Snapshot Recall, Versatile, Virtually Tamper Proof
Cons: Ipad4 Docking Issue, Limited Control - Effects
The best 16 channel digital mixer available (as of q3 2012)

Summary: This mixer does have its limitations. Only 16 channels, no inserts, blah blah blah. each channel has HPF, sweepable eq, comp, gate. 6 aux sends + LR (mains). Ability to record to the ipad, and the ability to undock the ipad and walk the room is incredible.
Excerpt: The unit does not work with the latest iPad with the new interface. Reading very closely the manufacturer states that they are working on it, however, when they highly recommend the newest iPad to use with the product they may want to be just as obvious in stating that it does not have a connector yet. The unit can be used wirelessly but that involves more equipment and setup. Now we are stuck with a brand new iPad when an older unit would have been better.
