So-so.

  • Excerpt: Wanted to replace an older version of the XENYX - especially as this version has FX. The goal was to use this mixer for live performance mixing different analog synths into one sound. The FX were clean but metallic and tinny sounding. Not effective for analog sounds. Also, there seems to be far less head room for the channels than the older version. Also, adding the FX required dropping EQ on some of the channels. All in all I prefer the older version.
  • Pros: Compact, Versatile
  • Cons: Poor Sound Quality

Suboptimal for Karaoke

Karaoke Singer, B&H Photo
21 January 2012
  • Excerpt: My main use for the mixer is karaoke with web-based SingSnap. I need to mix their backing track with my voice to my headphones. For recording I must send only voice. I guess the lingo for that requirement is "multi-bus". For that, previously I got good results with the Behringer MA400, also sold by B&H. But I wanted to upgrade. I now need 48V and I need compact footprint, so I purchased the 1002FX. I have been able to get the 1002 to do what I need, but it is suboptimal.
  • Pros: Excellent Sound, Low Distortion
  • Cons: Lacks Multi-Bus

Fantastic little mixer for the price

6 December 2011
  • Excerpt: I purchased this mixer to manage my varied connections from my Mac, my synth, my e-drum, electric guitar/bass and microphones. It works flawlessly, the build is solid, the buttons, knobs and slider also feel solid. I like the 4 stereo inputs, which can also be used in MONO mode and the control/phones out is great for monitoring the mix. There are so many features that's it's impossible to include them all.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Low Distortion, Versatile
  • Cons: LED Pwr light too bright

"My product research pays off again"

By a customer from yahoo.com, zzounds.com

  • Excerpt: It has low noise, even with the gain cranked up on the microphone channels (with 60+dB of gain, that's really saying something!) I've made several good recordings with it - everything ran through it sounds good live and in recording: vocals through a condensor mic, acoustic guitars through a condensor mic, five-string bass through a direct box and electric guitar through an RP500.

"A great entry level product which you will start looking to replace after two or three months of use."

  • Excerpt: Although is a good choice for entry level and home studio, there is a background noise which can not be eliminated whatsoever. The price is great as you can start at $38 for the 502, but you must be aware that this piece makes noise, not so loud but noise anyway.

AWESOME MIXER FOR THE PRICE !!!!!

Ben Blazin, B&H Photo
9 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I HAVE BEEN MAKING MUSIC FOR OVER 12 YEARS. I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SMALL AND COMPACT FOR SMALL AND BIG VENUES. I HAVE 24 TRACK MIXER BUT IT IS TO BULKY WHEN YOU ONLY NEED TO USE A FEW CHANNELS. THIS XENYX 1002FX 10 Channel Audio Mixer with Effects IS OUTSTANDING. IT HAS THE POWER AND DURABILITY OF ANYTHING ELSE ON THE MARKET. BEING COMPACT AND HAVING OVER 100 EFFECTS AND THE ABILITY TO USE PHANTOM POWER FOR CONDENSER MICS OR DYNAMIC MICS IS INCREDIBLE FOR THE PRICE.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent Price, Excellent Sound, Low Distortion, Powerful, Versatile, Very Durable
  • Cons: No OffOn Power Switch

Best value for the size/money

17 February 2010
  • Excerpt: I bought this last month and I'm very happy with the product quality and features. I'm using it for home karaoke parties (2 mics, 1 other audio source) and for guitar parties (up to 2 mics, 2 guitars and other audio source like song backtrack). It has great audio quality and ultra low-noise power adapter (with 2 differential power lines for noise suppression). Convenient knobs and LEDs, good DSP/FX quality.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Low Distortion
  • Cons: More RCA inputs, Not very useful effects

PERFECT SOLUTION FOR MY NEEDS

dwjw, B&H Photo
20 November 2009
  • Excerpt: I'VE been looking for a simple mixer for a long time and this fit my need perfectly at a low price. I only needed something where I could mix my singing with an LP or CD and add some echo or reverb and it does it perfectly. I'll only need about one fourth of all the inputs, but this was the simplest alternative.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Low Distortion, Uncomplicated and simple

Great Value

  • Excerpt: Great mixer. The built in effects are nice although the reverb is pretty much all you need. great value for the money. Only two draw backs. 1. there is no power switch, it must be unplugged everytime. 2. the blue power light is way too bright. I put a piece of black electrical tape over it...fixed.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Low Distortion
