Worth the money, application limited

  • Summary: I got this product to use in some basic home recording, to avoid mic preamp clipping before getting to the AD converter. It's pretty noisy, and tends to pick up interference pretty easily. The unbalanced I/O doesn't help that problem. It seems more like a single channel compressor that has limited stereo uses, I don't think it would work very well independently compressing 2 separate channels.

Has its place...

  • Summary: I use this upstream from an FM transmitter that I use to pipe web radio to the house. Preset 16 "Leveler" works for me. It has Alps pots and better metering than their cheapo boards; good value for 40 clams. I haven't tried it as a studio limiter, but it's well suited to stereo level control when listening to sources that're all over the map, level-wise. It is what it is and it does what it does, very neatly.
  • Pros: Clear Sound, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Very Light
