  • Summary: Slightly off centred cantilever (common with Shure N97xE styli, an indication of poor manufacture quality). Shure should be aware of this as there have been many complaints about this.

Don't buy.

  • Summary: The needle broke off after playing on 6 albums. Just snapped right off. No refund after 30 days. I'm 19 days past. $50 down the drain. I'll find a reputable dealer who stands behind their products.

N97XE Shure Cart Stylus

Marion A. Mims, Amazon
11 November 2013
  • Summary: I ordered the Shure N97xE Cart from Amazon and was very pleased with how it tracked and reproduced the sounds from my 45's and 33's. But beware as Easy-going posted and I noted myself that the stylus is very thin and fragile than most and there was green crud where it mounts to it's holder. I was attempting to set the tracking force with a gage and when I set the cartridge/tonearm onto the gage pad the stylus simply broke-off.

  • Summary: This stylus opened up my Thorens TD146's true potential! sound depth greatly increased and the sound floor dropped quite a bit too! highly recommend this to anybody weather you're on a budget or can afford some other $15,000 stylus/cart!

Upgraded from N99E

Douglas Rodgers, Amazon

  • Summary: Fit perfectly into an old Shure M99E cartridge on a Dual 1215s and sounds good. Running brush down with extra .5 gram tracking per instructions, tracks great, sounds good, very satisfied.

Good as new!

Easy-going, Amazon

  • Summary: The original performance of the cartridge has been restored. What a great sound! The flexible suspension of the stylus cantilever had decomposed in the original, which had muddied-up the bass. This is eventually going to happen regardless of how much wear you put on the diamond. With the brush down, counterweight set to 1.7 grams (resulting in 1.2 grams of actual stylus force); tracking is optimal. This is in an old Technics S-shaped tonearm.
