  • Excerpt: Don’t feel like shelling out for a Pioneer DJM Nexus , but still want proper Pioneer DJ gear? Vault the Pioneer DDJ-T1 ($899) to the top of your list. A lower price doesn’t mean a half-baked controller though. Pioneer has infused the DDJ-T1 with pro performance jog wheels that are both ruggedized and responsive, touch search strips, a full line-up of inputs and outputs, and a customized version of Traktor DJ software that makes setup a breeze.

  • Excerpt: Born In the Shadow of Greatness Given Pioneer's late entry into the controller market you can only assume that they've spent the last few years studying the competition, biding their time until they've come up with the one design that will dominate bedrooms everywhere. And on the face of it, they might have done it, had NI not gone Microsoft and created the hardware/software marvel that is the Kontrol S4.

  • Summary: Since the demise of vinyl, nothing has risen to claim the mantle previously held by the Technics 1210 turntable, but Pioneer has come closest with its CDJ CD decks. Now that CDs are on the wane and laptops are in the hot seat, Pioneer has launched the DDJ-T1 and its sister system the DDJ-S1. The T1 tested here is designed to work with DJ software Traktor, while the S1 is tailored specifically to Serato Itch software.

  • Pros: intuitives Layout, CDJ-typische Jog Wheels, gute Fader, Klang
