Summary: *****BUYER BEWARE!!*****CAVEAT EMPTOR!!***** We bought this dishwasher to replace the piece of junk that originally was installed in our house. I must say, for the price this washer has great options and the stainless look fits right in with the rest of our appliances. The dishwasher also initially did a great job with washing and drying dishes. That was just over a year ago.
Summary: Everything is cheaper than the comparable model I replaced. The motor is smaller. The springs are thinner. Biggest frustration was not being able to hook up water. If you have a standard 3/8 copper line, you won't get the job done. I opened the manual and found that an adapter must be purchased. So the dishwasher is sitting useless while I wait for the part to come, and I paid for expedited shipping. Why not include the six dollar part??
Summary: I loved this dishwasher initially as it cleaned well and held my larger items well. Now less than two years later I am forced to replace it. First the filter clogged up (repair man says too fine a mesh) then the pump died. Lots of money for less than two years. No more Whirlpool for me. I am trying a Kitchen Aide and if that fails will get a used one without the large box that holds larger items, as repair man says this means smaller motor and they fail sooner.
Summary: very quiet which was a big priority for me replacing the loud 80's model that had been in my kitchen. Doesn't dry very well without a drying agent - perhaps that's how dishwashers are made now (to always be used WITH a drying agent) - so maybe that's part of the design and not a "flaw", per se, to this model. First stainless steel and they are a challenge to keep clean (but so pretty, it's worth it!
Summary: This model replaced a ten year old KitchenAid that was the worst disappointment of my appliance buying life. We've had this one about a month and it's made us realize the KA didn't work right from the beginning. We're happy with the Whirlpool. This baby washes dishes in about half an hour though drying takes longer, but the KA took two hours.
