Sadly my perfect functioning but noisy 25 year old kitchenaid was put to the curb when the racks started to rust and i think the pump finally died. I was attracted to the samsung by the sleek design and stainless steel interior. I have put up with it for ~2 years and it has never cleaned properly. Right away I discovered that if the dishes were not rinsed of debris COMPLETELY, the sprayer holes would clog. (never rinsed with the kitchenaid.) I only use quick wash now, because the other cycles take FOREVER and don't seem to clean much better, plus they engage the dryer which is useless, even if you pause to blot the water standing on the dishes beforehand.

Now it just started malfunctioning and when my mechanical engineer husband disassembled it, he found the bottom filled with greasy debris and gunk?! He discovered the rubber gasket around the pump housing was too long thus did not seal, so he shortened it. We'll see what happens...
-must thoroughly rinse all debris from dishes or the sprayer holes clog
-does not clean thoroughly, even after prerinsing
    -dryer is useless
-cannot restart the cycle where it left off if the power button is accidentally pressed
-power button is easily engaged by leaning against the counter
-if detergent gets on the edge of the dispenser cavity, the cover sticks & sometimes fails to pop open, thus no detergent dispenses
    -lower rack is poorly designed
    -normal cycle is ~2 hours
-no way to run the dryer only

Samsung makes great televisions. They have no idea how to make a quality dishwasher! This unit looks great and comes with a lot of features and is very quiet but it does a horrible job of cleaning. We often must run it twice to get a load clean and this is after pre-rinsing. There is always severe mold at the bottom crease of the door that collects and smells. You must bleach this after every one to 2 loads!
The wheels of the carriage tray constantly come off. The wash time seems like it is over 3 hours long. Samsung refused to do anything about it after repeated calls. It is between one and two years old now.
