Summary: In the short time I have owned this dishwasher I have had to replace the pump and the wheel assemblies for the top rack. Last week the control panel failed. The combined cost of a new control panel and the service call exceeds the cost of a new unit. I am very disappointed in the quality.
Summary: Mine has broke 5 times in 5 years! Save yourself the trouble and buy another brand. Kitchen aid doesn't stand behind their products. You will be stuck with a broken appliance or have to buy yourself a new one. Just for your information....Kitchen aid is owned by Whirlpool who also owns...Maytag, Jenn Air, and Amana. So, I wouldn't buy those brands either. That means your left with Frigidaire or Bosch and I don't know how good these are.
Summary: This was our 3rd dishwasher within 3 month. First one we get was LG but it was leaking - took it back. Replaced it with Samsung. After a month of use the Samsung died. Took it back to Sears and replaced with the brand we were assured would work like a charm KitchenAid. After 2 years the light on the panel were lit and actuator for the soap dispenser died. Replaced the soap dispenser. It worked for another year and today the dishwasher died. unable to start.
Summary: I purchased this KitchenAid dishwasher at Lowes only 2 years ago. Within 2 weeks, the top rack fell off the tracks, crashing down to the lower rack....loaded. Their service technician replaced the tracks holding the rack....twice. It continues to fall off the track at random, usually loaded. Since I didn't purchase the extended warranty (i.e. prepay for service and parts) their only remedy was to send a technician and charge me for labor and parts. No thanks.
Summary: Had this model less than a year and had to have control panel replaced (dryer light not working); my dishes were also not getting clean; food was being baked into the dishes--turns out that the rinse aid was dumping into the dishwasher causing a lot of suds during the rinse cycle; so the dispenser was replaced--still had the same problem; the serviceman came back and had actually spoken to the manufacturer--was told that it could be another part (ribbon) which connects...
Summary: Absolutely horrible dishwasher. We replaced it with a new LG unit after 1 1/2 years of usage. After spending $1400 for the KitchenAid dishwasher, I was surprised as to how low quality it (and probably all other KitchenAid dishwashers) was built. The first part that went bad, around a year into using the dishwasher was the upper rack posts that support the rolling wheels started breaking 1 by 1.
Summary: I purchased my Kitchenaid dishwasher in February. So far lights in the display panel have burnt out. It has a bad smell, I run it daily and rinse my dishes well. The BIGGEST issue is that it has rust spots on the front panel that will NOT come off. Kitchenaid informed me that the issue was cosmetic and they would not be responsible. The rust is to the point that the front of the dishwasher does not look clean...ever...gross....
