Never again, buy the Bosch
7 February 2012
Summary: We bought the double dishdrawer and had nothing but trouble. We had a repairman out to fix more than 10 times in a 1.5 year period. We tried to get Fisher Paykel to replace the unit and give us a warranty replacement, but they refused.
Summary: I have had two of these Fisher Paykel dish drawer dishwashers. The first one was the first generation and was a service nightmare. Ultimately, the repair bill to replace the servo (sp) was so high that we chose to cut our losses and put the money toward to third generation Fisher Paykel dish drawer...
Summary: We were greatly attracted to the two door design, The product worked very well for the first six months, then leaked water on our floor. The FP repair man told us to be sure and pre-rinse every dish as debris can interfere with the valving. He certified the installation was proper.
Summary: I have been putting this dishwasher through heavy use sense Thanksgiving. I have to say that this is hands down the best dishwasher I have ever owned. The cleaning capability of this machine (baked on macaroni and cheese - NOT rinsed) has far exceeded my expectations.
Summary: Okay, I've read the other reviews, which are quite mixed. I hope this one will help you decide whether or not you should invest. PROS: Quiet, practical, washes dishes and pots clean every time. Has multiple cycles (including a 12 minute rinse and an ECO button).
Summary: I bought my double-drawer model in 2002 when I remodeled my kitchen. My neighbor had the original model and was and still is very happy with it. In these nine years, I have not had any trouble with the washers whatsoever. I get consistently clean dishes on the short cycle, and I never pre-rinse.
Summary: It's a rare day that goes by that I don't curse this dishwasher for some reason or another. Let me preface by saying that I don't own this exact model, but an earlier model of the DishDrawer, and it may be that Fisher-Paykel has fixed some of these problems, but use this as a guide to all the design...
Summary: Edit: See update below. I was captivated by the drawer idea from the moment I saw the machine and had to have it. A dishdrawer was installed in 2004 and it just had its third service call since then.
Summary: I have had my F&P double-drawer dishwasher for about 5 years and it has never cleaned dishes properly. This is especially galling given that the salesman told me that it was so good that he put a whole pizza, in its box, in the DW, ran it, and the DW was empty and spotless afterward.
Summary: Never mind the repair problems! This machine is incredibly poorly designed on all levels, way too expensive. I seldom use mine because: It's difficult to load as the doors want to roll shut. Try to load a dishwasher with one hand while holding the drawer open with the other? Nonsense.
