Summary: I didn't get alot of chances to use it, but when I did, it performed like it said it would. The only complaint I have is that it takes to long to take the actual picture and it was difficult to tell when it actually did take the picture. When I looked back at the photos, everything turned out nice and clear.
OK camera for price but works for underwater quite well!

Summary: -can't really see what you're doing under-water so I just snapped at random things and hoped for the best. The case is solid, if you close it properly and move sand and gunk out of the seams it works flawlessly. My pictures from the grand cayman came out great!!! I did use it out of the water as well and had trouble seeing the photo and screen was kind of blurry but it did it's job and i'll use it again.
Summary: So I didn't want to get a "good" camera for underwater use on Galapagos trip, and, I DIDN'T!! Body molding does not inspire confidence when I removed from blister-pack packaging, but didn't leak water at all. Photos taken, though, were extremely disappointing underwater--sort of "point and pray" when shooting fish, seals, turtles, etc. Got only a few barely usable shots!
Summary: The first two times I tried to use the camera the pictures came out fuzzy and unuseable. I attibuted it to user error, as I tried to learn a new camera. The third time water filled the screen on the back. By the time I snorkeled back to shore, I had ruined my new rechargeable batteries, my memory card, and the POS camera. I have now lost $90 and not gotten a single useable picture. Of course the return date ended a week ago, so now I am just out of luck.
Summary: Purchased this for a cruise that included some underwater shore excursions. Really could not see the screen under water, had to guess at what you were getting when you took a picture. I was very disappointed in this camera. It did work, it was waterproof. But you have no idea whether or not you're getting a picture because you can't see the screen! I didn't think it was working so stopped using it. My iPhone with a waterproof cover worked better.
Summary: The camera takes good pictures when everything is just right, but it is difficult to see how they are turning out because the LCD Screen is so dark. When taking a picture, it is very hard to tell when it it takes so you just keep snapping. It may get better after I have used it more. I bought it for snorkeling and just for taking to the beach or on the water when I don't want to risk my more expensive camera that is not waterproof.
Summary: Value for the money spent, picture quality good, and easy to use. However, very difficult to see screen underwater and flash is subpar above water. However, as stated a good value for the money.
Summary: True to what the other reviews say. The screen is too dark and its hard to see the pic you've taken or if the camera is even on at times. It's kind of like having a camera in the 80's, you take the picture and have no idea what it looks like until you're in a darker room to see the screen, but when that happens, if you get the image you wanted you won't be disappointed. It does take a good quality picture.
Summary: Nice rugged little camera that we got to use on our boat. Picture quality is just not there. Color and lighting is all off. We have even owned other Vivitar cameras and did not have any reservations on purchasing this one. If I could do it all over I'd buy a more expensive camera from a competitor.
